Have my new HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e connected to my wireless home network.  Installed the HP Smart app on my phone. Every time I try to print from my phone the response on the printer screen shows "Connect Method The printer has received a request to connect using Wi-fi Direct  Cancel or Connect" I have to hit connect every time. Defeats the purpose of sitting in another room with my phone and trying to print and have to come into my home office every time. Did I miss something in setup

Hi @Pauls1954,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e is defaulting to Wi-Fi Direct mode when you print from your phone, which is causing it to prompt you for connection approval each time. To resolve this and ensure your phone prints directly to the printer over your home network without requiring manual approval each time, follow these steps:

**1. Ensure Printer and Phone Are on the Same Network

Check Printer Connection:

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to the Network or Wireless settings and ensure it is connected to your home Wi-Fi network.

Check Phone Connection:

  • Make sure your phone is also connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the printer.

2. Configure HP Smart App for Network Printing

Open HP Smart App:

  • On your phone, open the HP Smart app.

Select Your Printer:

  • Ensure that your printer is selected as the default printer in the app. If not, select it from the list of available printers.

Check Printer Status:

  • Make sure the app recognizes the printer as connected to your home network and not as a Wi-Fi Direct printer.

3. Set Up Printer for Network Printing

Access Printer Settings:

  • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to the Setup or Network settings.

Select Wireless Settings:

  • Choose Wireless Settings and look for an option like Wi-Fi Direct or Wi-Fi Setup.

Disable Wi-Fi Direct:

  • If Wi-Fi Direct is enabled, disable it to avoid it defaulting to this mode. This ensures the printer uses your home network for connections.

4. Reconfigure Printer Setup

Run Wireless Setup Wizard:

  • On the printer, run the Wireless Setup Wizard from the Setup menu. This will help ensure that the printer is properly connected to your home Wi-Fi network.

Follow On-Screen Instructions:

  • Follow the prompts to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network if it isn’t already connected.

5. Verify and Test

Test Printing:

  • From the HP Smart app or any other printing app on your phone, send a print job to the printer.

Check for Prompt:

  • Verify if the printer still prompts for Wi-Fi Direct approval or if it prints directly without needing manual approval.

6. Update Printer Firmware

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Visit the HP Support website and check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
