Microsoft Windows 11

I have two HP printers attached to my new HP z2 workstation. on Windows 11. The The office jet pro 8715 works fine. The Laserjet 1320 does not print. Print Que test pages say they printed but nothing.  I have reloaded the drivers, removed and added the printer back. Used the HP Doc app without succes and followed all the procedures also without success. The printer is attached via USB and I have switched those around without success even directly switching two printers to offsetting USB ports and the 8715 still works in either. Nohthing. Please help.

Hi @LL88-wv

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you've already tried several steps to troubleshoot the issue with your HP LaserJet 1320 printer, but it's still not printing from your HP Z2 workstation running Windows 11. Let's go through a systematic approach to resolve this.

1. Check the Printer Connection

  • USB Cable: Even though you’ve switched USB ports, try using a different USB cable in case the current one is faulty.
  • USB Port: Since the OfficeJet Pro 8715 is working fine in either port, it's worth trying to connect the LaserJet 1320 to a different USB port on your workstation to rule out any potential conflicts or issues with the specific USB port being used.
  • Direct Connection: Ensure the printer is directly connected to your PC, not through a USB hub.

2. Check the Printer’s Status

  • Open the Devices and Printers window in Windows by pressing Windows + R, typing control printers, and pressing Enter.
  • Right-click the LaserJet 1320 printer icon and make sure it is set as the default printer.
  • Clear any print jobs in the queue. Sometimes a stuck job can prevent the printer from working. In the Devices and Printers window, right-click on your printer and choose See what's printing. If there are any documents stuck in the queue, cancel them.
  • Make sure that the printer is not paused or offline (you should see a green checkmark next to the printer if it’s ready).

3. Uninstall and Reinstall Printer Drivers

It seems like you’ve reloaded the drivers, but let’s try completely removing the printer and drivers and reinstalling them to ensure no corrupted drivers are causing the issue.

Remove the Printer:

  1. Open the Devices and Printers window.
  2. Right-click the LaserJet 1320 printer and select Remove device.

Remove Drivers:

  1. Open Device Manager by pressing Windows + X and selecting Device Manager.
  2. Expand the Printers section, right-click on the LaserJet 1320, and select Uninstall device.

Clear Driver Packages:

  1. Press Windows + R, type printui /s /t2, and press Enter.
  2. In the Print Server Properties window, go to the Drivers tab.
  3. Find the HP LaserJet 1320 driver in the list and click Remove. You may need to confirm by choosing Remove driver and driver package.

I hope this helps.
