Just installed it.
The print dialogue box has a radio button for black & white, which defaults to checked, but I unchecked.
Still only prints B&W.
Test page prints colour so what does this device need to get it to print my document's colour logo in a letter?

Good Day. Thank you for posting your query in the HP community. I will be glad to assist you and let’s get right to it. Splendid observations and great presentation of the issue. It is amply appreciated.
Let me gather some information for better clarity to assist you correctly:
- Let me know the exact model# or product# of the printer to assist you correctly.
- Is it Deskjet 2620, 2622 or something else?
- Does it have both USB and wireless capability?
- How are you connected to the MacBook? Is it USB or Wireless?
- Do you get any errors while printing in color?
- Are you able to make photocopies in color directly from the printer?
Furnish all the above-mentioned information to assist you correctly.
I will be providing a roadmap with some troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue. Let us try these steps:
- Please perform a hard reset on the printer from this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/product/hp-deskjet-2600-all-in-one-printer-series/12319824/document/c00... by following instructions from the section “Step 1: Reset the printer
- Also update the printer firmware also by following instructions from this link:https://support.hp.com/bg-en/document/c02919168
- There is an associated YouTube video on how to do it. Update it using a USB cable.
Now check for issue resolution. If it continues, then install all the latest updates for your Mac OS and ensure that it has all the current updates installed.
Then remove the printer and add the printer as Apple AirPrint or Secure AirPrint and nothing else.
Add the printer through System Preferences:
If your printer is listed, remove and re-add the printer to confirm it is set up correctly. Click the printer name, click the minus sign
to delete the printer, click the plus sign
, click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name and then continue to the next step.
If your printer is not listed, click the plus sign, click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer, and then continue to the next step.
If your printer is not listed in the Add Printer or Scanner window, make sure the printer is connected. Try to add the printer again, and then continue to the next step.
Click the Use or Print Using menu, and then select AirPrint to complete the setup.
Ensure to run all the latest Mac OS updates on the MacBook and check if all current updates are completely installed.
You could also download this driver for OS X (10.13.6) and check if it works for your Version of the Mac OS.
- This should fix it. Check this link:https://support.hp.com/in-en/product/hp-deskjet-2600-all-in-one-printer-series/12319824/document/c04... (HP Printers - Print Driver Settings Guide (Mac) and follow directions from the section "Color and black & white settings".
- Now check if it gets resolved.
Good luck and keep me posted about the developments. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue and give the post a Kudos for my efforts to help. Thank you and have a great week ahead. 🙂

Thanks for the try, David - actually I got it to work by downloading a driver for OSX a couple of versions earlier than the one I use (10.13.6). Turns out the driver delivered with OSX was a monochrome driver.

Where did you find the old driver to download?
I've just downloaded the lastest one for a macbook air and it's only printing in black and white. No option to print colour however the colour scanning is working so I know that there is no issue with the colour cartridge.

@Grant2019, Welcome to HP Support Community!
I understand you are unable to print in color from your mac computer, this could either be an issue with the settings or the driver. Follow the steps below-
Ensure that the printer is up to date with its firmware and Mac is up to date with its software. If you are unsure you may use the links below to update the printer firmware and Mac software:
Remove and add the printer
Click the Apple menu, and then select System Preferences.
Depending on your operating system version, click Print & Fax, Print & Scan, or Printers & Scanners.
Click the name of your printer, click the Minus sign, and then delete the printer.
Click the Plus sign, and then click Add Printer or Scanner.
Click the Use or Print Using box, and then select AirPrint
Click Add to add the printer to the list.
Try to print.
Keep me posted for further assistance.
Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution. Click the “Kudos/Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!
