Hi! I know very little about printers, so I hope I'm able to describe my issue. 🙂

I got a used printer (dad's MIL passed away, so it hadn't been used for some time).. It was low on some colours and printed very weirdly, so I bought new cartridges (HP 912 / 6ZC74AE Ink 4-Pack). I changed all besides black, but the issue did not go away. I opened it and cleaned the cartridges inside. I have also cleaned the printheads 4-5 times and something else I dont know the English word for ("Clean cartridgetv."?).

I also tried adjusting the printhead, but it wouldn't scan the test page (but I have scanned a picture successfully). It's from both LAN computer and my phone. I have attached pictures of how the pages look printed. It seems to be the Cyan colour not working? And after a few more prints, it's like the Yellow isn't really working anymore, when I'm printing the quality page from Rapports. And then the weird stripes across. I have no idea what to do now.

It looks like the black ink is working fine, but the new colour is not.  It the black the original cartridge?

Possibly the new ink is a refill of HP cartridges?

I had similar streaking on cyan toner cartridge that was poorly refilled and when I replaced it the problem went away.

I am guessing on the following as I do not have your exact printer:

Bring up printer properties and select Printing Preferences

Look for Maintenance and run any diagnostics or utilities that might help.

Possibly the used printer is beyond its life expectancy??

Make sure you have the latest firmware: Dec 2024

I had to choose my device when I made the post, I'm not sure it's visible for others? But it's the 'HP OfficeJet Pro 8022'. It says the start date for the warranty was August 2020, expired October 2021, so I assume the printer is from 2020? But yes, the black is the one that came with the printer since it seemed a waste to change a full one. The ink should be the correct one and bought from a "proper" webshop. But thank you so much, I'll look at the printer settings and make sure I have the latest firmware. 🙂

To check if an HP ink cartridge is genuine, look for a security label on the cartridge, scan the QR code on the label with your phone, and then go to HP's website (hp.com/go/ok) to verify the serial number on the label; if the label appears tampered or the serial number doesn't validate, the cartridge is likely not genuine.

Hi! Thank you for the tip. 🙂 I have found two QR codes on the cartridges, but my phone won't recognize them (I have tested another QR code which wasn't a problem to scan). I tried both the new ones, and the original black one (since that ink works), same problem, unfortunately.

If you cannot capture QR codes with a smartphone, go to the HP Mobile Authentication website at the URL shown on new security labels (www.hp.com/go/ok) and enter the label's serial number to validate the label. A valid response indicates that the cartridge is safe for purchase.

Let me know what you find out.  I have no HP ink cartridge printers.  My HP CM1415 complains about my refilled toners but still work.

Could the problem be the printer was manufactured for a different region instead of Denmark?

The EWS application should tell you the region codes of the cartridges and if they are not compatible with the printer's region code.  How to Use the HP printer Embedded Web Server (EWS)
