Hi @pklmft,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand how frustrating this situation can be! Let's troubleshoot the issue step by step to connect your HP OfficeJet Pro 8139e to your HP Notebook
.
Ensure Compatibility and Update Drivers
- Check System Compatibility:
- Ensure your laptop meets the requirements for the printer software and drivers.
- Update your laptop's operating system to the latest version.
- Download the Latest Software:
- Visit the HP Support website and download the latest drivers and HP Smart app for your printer model.
Verify Printer Connectivity
- Reset Network Settings on the Printer:
- On the printer's control panel, go to Settings > Network > Restore Network Settings to reset.
- Reconnect the Printer to WiFi:
- Use the printer's display to connect to your WiFi network.
- Ensure the network is 2.4 GHz, as some printers struggle with 5 GHz networks.
Reinstall HP Smart
- Uninstall HP Smart:
- Remove HP Smart from your laptop completely.
- Reinstall HP Smart:
- Download HP Smart again and sign in with your HP account.
- Re-add the Printer:
- Open HP Smart, click "Add Printer," and follow the setup prompts.
- Ensure the printer and laptop are on the same WiFi network.
Use Manual IP Connection (if Setup Still Fails)
- Find the Printer's IP Address:
- On the printer, go to Settings > Network > View Network Summary to find the IP address.
- Add Printer Manually:
- On your laptop, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Add a Printer.
- Choose "The printer that I want isn't listed."
- Select "Add a printer using a TCP/IP address" and enter the printer's IP address.
Test Functionality
- Print a Test Page:
- Once connected, print a test page to confirm the setup works.
- Scan Test:
- Open HP Smart or the scanner app and perform a test scan.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
