New update screws with A4 printing on MFP M281 Color Laser

jeez what a waste of my morning. New update 20230822 just blew up the ability to print A4. Now it won't recognize A4 paper in the tray, yes I moved the little plastic doohickeys. And there is NO override to say "just print dammit". Tells me to "load tray 2 with A4 paper" or cancel. Not "paper changed" just load paper that's already in there or cancel. Yes I restarted. Works fine with letter. Who would code in the ability to not print if paper size was wrong and then not make sure the printer knows what size paper is actually in there? My printer only has one main job, that's to freaking print. What can you be thinking HP?

well magically now it will say "OK to print with available media" so at least now I can print on A4 when the printer doesn't know that A4 is actually in the tray. YAY!

Nope, I can only print single sided with the override "Use available media" as soon as I try two-sided it give the error without the ability to override. Thanks for the update that breaks the printer guys. I guess I'll wipe it and try to find some old driver somewhere that will restore the functionality you've removed.

Found an old firmware file that HP doesn't want to share and turned the clock back to a time when my printer did what I paid it to do. Just freaking print. Shoved the old firmware file into the printer via ftp printing as the PC firmware app wouldn't work even with Downgrade allowed.
