Hello, all,
I am new to this forum, but my 8610 e-printer will not print any paper/document I send it. I have uninstalled all locations where the printer is located on Win10 Pro, but no joy. I have used the HP Smart App and in diagnostics I get the following - "Driver Issue Not Fixed."
Utilizing HP products from the web, I can print everything, but I am unable to print any documents from Windows 10. I have spent many hours on this problem to no success. I purchased this printer in 2020 so my warranty has expired. Are there any reliable businesses on the web that are reliable and not scammers? (I called WinMaxFix, but they are a scammer - do not use them!)

Spending hours troubleshooting a printer that just won’t cooperate is beyond frustrating. You’ve done all the right things, and that stubborn “Driver Issue Not Fixed” message is definitely not what you want to see. But don’t worry, we’re in this together! Let’s get your 8610 e-printer back to doing what it does best, printing.
Completely Remove Old HP Drivers
Since you mentioned uninstalling the printer, let's make sure all traces of the old drivers are removed:
A. Remove the Printer from Windows
- Press Win + R, type control printers, and press Enter.
- Right-click on your HP 8610 printer and click Remove Device.
- Restart your computer.
B. Delete Old Drivers
- Open Device Manager (Win + X → Device Manager).
- Expand Printers or Print queues.
- Right-click on HP OfficeJet 8610, and select Uninstall device.
- Check Delete the driver software for this device if available.
- Restart your PC.
C. Clear Print Spooler (Just in Case)
- Press Win + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
- Scroll down and find Print Spooler.
- Right-click on Print Spooler → Stop.
- Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS and delete all files inside.
- Go back to services.msc, right-click Print Spooler, and click Start.
Install the Correct HP Drivers
Instead of relying on Windows Update, install official HP drivers manually:
A. Download the Correct Drivers
- Go to the HP Support Page for OfficeJet Pro 8610.
- Select Windows 10 (64-bit).
- Download HP Full Feature Software and Driver (avoid basic drivers).
- Run the installer and follow the setup instructions.

Set Your Printer as Default
- Press Win + I to open Settings.
- Go to Devices → Printers & Scanners.
- Click your HP 8610, select Manage, then click Set as Default.
- Try printing a test page.
Test with a USB Cable (If Using Wi-Fi)
- If you’re using Wi-Fi, try connecting via USB instead.
- This can help determine if the issue is wireless-related or driver-related.
Check for Windows 10 Printer Updates
- Press Win + I, go to Update & Security → Windows Update.
- Click Check for updates.
- If any HP printer updates appear, install them.

Hi, Kuroi,
Thank you for your two approaches to helping me to try to connect to my 8610 printer. I spent 3 hours following your instructions and I need to walk away now for awhile as it is all becoming a blur in my 72 year-old brain. The short answer is none of your suggestions worked except for trying a USB connection. I don't have one that is long enough to reach between the location for the printer and the PC. I will find one and try that.
Thanks, again.
