Help! I have not been able to use my printer for scanning for some time now, but today I needed to replace ink cartridges and am forced to scan the alignment page. Symptoms: the printer's screen shows an endless "Now Scanning" spinner. I've downloaded the most recent drivers and firmware, and Print & Scan Dr 5.0 hangs up at Driver Check. It is "unable to communicate with the product" (which is in this scan spin loop).
I don't care if I ever scan again - I just need to use the printer. Is it possible to bypass this scan step to use the new ink?
I am past warranty so I suspect that the phone line won't help me, but I do have a ticket with them from when this began. Should I just call?
Windows 8.1.

Fixed!!! I unplugged it to stop the scanner. When I plugged it in again, it wanted to print the alignment page again. I canceled out of that and it set a default alignment without needing to scan! I am back in business, but I do wish the scanner would work.

This thread is related, if others find this problem. If I do try to scan again, I'll press down on the lid.
