Envy 7640

I am helping my brother who has a 3 year old HP Envy 7640 All-in-one.

They have been unplugging the printer every day since new due to the whining sound from a badly designed power supply module (A9T80-60008 Rev C,) as documented in this locked HP post: HP Envy 7645 Makes Noise When Not In Use

They were not aware this was using exorbitant amounts of ink (getting ~40 prints from a 200 print cartridge).

I was disappointed to find the official HP parts store doesn't sell the A9T80-60008 module. Even sadder was the offical HP PartSurfer page for A9T80-60008 that lists no functional equivilents.

C'est la vie. I did find several listings on ebay for "Power Supply E4W39-60047 Replace A9T80-60008", but it comes from China so I'm concerned it is not a genuine HP Part.

It's also not clear if E4W39-60047 is in fact a direct replacement for a A9T80-60008 and of course if it has the same design flaw as the A9T80-60008 Rev C, that causes the noise.

Can someone please advise?

Regards

Moon
