My printer took several pages through at once and they stuck halfway through. I released these carefully and opened the front and back of the printer to make sure no paper was stuck. All lights on the printer are green so printer looks good to go.
I watched the help video to make sure I did as described and held the 2 relevant buttons on the printer to print a test page. The test page printed with no issue. However when I then tried to print a word document I had created it would not print, still advised paper jam. Test pages are printing OK but no documents. Strange, any ideas????

I agree it sounds like a glitch in the communication between the printer and the computer. I suggest using the following steps to delete the printer from device and printers, and the driver from the server properties.
1. In the ‘Devices and Printers’ folder
2. Choose ‘Print server properties’.
- Win XP – With no printer selected, click ‘File’ then ‘Server Properties’.
- Windows Vista – With no printer selected, press ‘Alt’ then click ‘File’ then ‘Server Properties’.
- Windows 7/8 and 8.1 – Select any printer in the ‘Devices and Printers’ folder and click ‘Print Server properties’ above.
3. Click on the ‘Drivers’ tab at the top of ‘Print server properties’ window
4. Choose the printer you want to uninstall and click ‘Remove’
5. Choose 'Remove driver only'
6. The next screen will give a warning, letting you know that deleting the driver package will remove it from the system. Click ‘Yes’ to say that you are sure you want to do this.
If documents are stuck in the print spooler, you may see an error, cancel any documents pending in the print queue, or try restarting the print spooler, then try to remove the driver from ‘Print server properties’ again. If it still won’t remove the package, restarting the computer and the printer should resolve this ‘in use’ error and allow the driver to be removed.
- If the you continue to get an 'in use' message follow the steps in the document here; The Specified Printer Driver is Currently in Use
After the driver is removed, open Start > All Programs > HP folder > Printer folder > HP Setup and Software (or the printer icon).
The Setup and software screen will open and you can click on Connect a new printer.
Thanks, I look forward to hearing back from you again.

Hi @MissElaineous,
Welcome to the HP Forums! I'd be happy to help you with your PSC 1410. I understand from your description that you can print test pages from the printer, but you can not print from Word and that the pages jam when you attempt to print a document from Word. Have you tried printing from a different program on the computer? I'd like to determine if this is an issue wit Word, or the print settings, or if the issue as to do with the driver.
Let me know.

The paper does not jam when trying to print from Word. As soon as I click print the paper does not move, not even attempts to pull through all I get is the paper jam error message immediately.
When the printer is not active and all the lights are green I check the printer properties the status says Paper Jam.
I will check printing from other programs later 🙂

Hello
I tried to print from other programs like Excel etc and still got the popup message on screen 'Printer Jam' and the printer just sitting idle, not trying to print or make any noise.
My cousin and I followed the steps included in the document and video from opening the printer, cleaning it again, to printing a test page by pressing the x and the coloured scan button etc. A test page printed immediately with the black writing advising the printer serial number etc and coloured bars etc. The video advised that if the test page printed the paper jam problem was solved. It looked like it but when I looked at the printer properties on my laptop screen the status still said Paper Jam!!
It is as if the computer and printer are not talking to each other or there is some sort of software glitch.

Hello
I removed any documents in the print queue and I removed the driver for the printer. I then reattached the printer and asked the laptop to find new device.
I got it reinstalled BUT I still saw Paper Jam, aaaggghhh!!!
I then asked a colleague in work to bring me their printer (exact same model) and tried again to remove my printer / driver and then attached the other printer. Laptop automatically found the driver and lo and behold the new printer worked, no paper jam.
I repeated this process to remove new printer and re-add my printer. This has solved the problem as I now have my printer printing the test pages and printing documents. No paper jam error messages at all.
Thank you very much for all your help.
