Hi @Bless27

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP Smart Tank 610 is printing A4 size pages but with inconsistent margins, particularly on the left side, which is affecting your ability to do things like spiral binding. This issue may be related to printer settings, paper size configurations, or alignment settings. Here are some steps to help resolve the problem:

1. Check Printer Settings for Paper Size and Margins

First, ensure that your printer is set to print on A4 size paper and that the margins are correctly configured.

  • Solution:
    1. Open the document or file you want to print.
    2. Go to File > Print.
    3. In the Print Setup dialog box, select the HP Smart Tank 610 as the printer.
    4. Click on Printer Properties or Preferences (depending on the software you are using).
    5. Check the Paper Size setting and ensure it is set to A4.
    6. Under Margins, make sure the margins are set appropriately (e.g., 1 inch or custom if you need specific margins). You can usually set the margins under the Layout or Margins section of the print settings.
    7. If you want a larger margin on the left side for binding, manually adjust the left margin to a larger value.

2. Check Page Setup in Your Document

Sometimes the issue is not with the printer, but with the document's page setup. If your document is formatted incorrectly or if the margins in the software are set too narrow, the printer might not follow the intended layout.

  • Solution:
    1. In the software you’re using to print (e.g., Microsoft Word or Google Docs), check the Page Layout or Page Setup settings.
    2. Go to Layout > Margins and select a preset option like Normal or set a Custom margin where the left margin is wider (for example, set it to 1.5 inches or 2 inches for binding purposes).
    3. Check the Print Preview before printing to ensure the margins and text alignment look correct.

3. Align the Printer's Paper Feed

If your printer is misaligning the paper slightly during printing, it can cause uneven margins. This could be an issue with the paper feed or the printer’s alignment settings.

  • Solution:
    1. Open the HP Smart app or go to HP Printer Software.
    2. Look for a setting called Paper Alignment or Print Alignment.
    3. Run the alignment process to calibrate the printer. This may help correct any alignment issues that could be causing the margins to print incorrectly.
    4. Check if the paper is loaded straight and properly aligned in the tray. Misaligned paper can also cause uneven printing.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
