I understand you are getting the E3 error on an HP DeskJet 2722 All-in-One Printer typically indicates a paper jam or a carriage jam. Here's how to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
 

Step 1: Check for Paper Jams HP DeskJet Printers - E4 (Paper jam) error

  1. Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord.
  2. Open the ink cartridge access door and check for any paper jammed inside the printer.
  3. Remove any stuck paper carefully without tearing it. Ensure no small pieces of paper remain inside.
  4. Check the paper input and output trays for any obstructions or paper jams.

Step 2: Check the Ink Carriage HP Printers - Carriage jam or E3 error

  1. Manually move the ink cartridge carriage to see if it's stuck. The carriage should move freely across the width of the printer.
  2. If it's jammed, look for any obstructions and remove them.

Step 3: Check the Paper Settings

  1. Ensure you're using the correct type and size of paper in the printer's paper tray.
  2. Align the paper properly in the input tray.

Step 4: Restart the Printer

  1. Once you’ve cleared any jams and checked the carriage, close all doors and reconnect the printer's power cord.
  2. Turn the printer on and check if the error is resolved.

Step 5: Reset the Printer

  1. If the error persists, reset the printer by unplugging it while it's on.
  2. Wait 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
