HI everyone I'm hoping to see if anyone can help me solve my issues about my printer Officejet pro6978. I connected my printer to my laptop and it was all going well when suddenly a message popped up saying paper jam and i fix it, then another problem came up it is now saying error 0x6100004a, I searched online and tried all of the them to fix my printer, then I checked the ink and it was giving me warning signs so I lifted the cover and found out that the ink carriage is stuck on the right side and was not moving, I turned it off to see if I can move it manually but it didn't do so. When I tried to press anything inside I turned it on and it moved from right to left but did not stop in the middle so that I can change the ink, I turned it off again and waited, then turned on, the ink carriage is stuck again on the right side. I have called the tech support they told me that I had to buy a new one because it is out of warranty . and they cant do anything about it because it is a hardware problem, but I havent even use the printer it's only been a year since I used it, and I don't print much on it I probably used . it for 10 times only. I paid 240$ for this printer and I didn't get to use it as much and now I don't know what to do. I cannot afford to buy another one as I am a student only and only does part time to pay for my bills. Anyone please help me solve this problem, should I bring to a repair shop do you think they can fix this problem or should I believe what the tech support told me?

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.
If you have tried the steps mentioned in this document and the issue persists, I'm afraid this is a hardware issue with the printer. The printer has to be upgraded as the previous HP technician mentioned.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
