Replaced all ink cartridges 3 days ago with NEW HP cartridges that expire in 2020.  Some minutes/hours after printing diagnostic reports flawlessly, printer announces that the CYAN cartridge is missing.  ( cannot furnish exact text ).

I've reset the printer, re-seated the cartridges, cleaned cartridges -- all to no avail.  I've even updated firmware.

Behavior continues so printer is generally useless.

Is this a simple case of a defective ink cartridge or is something else at work?

Really am stumped.  This printer has been working for quite some time and until I replaced the ink cartridges, all seemed to be well.

Any ideas?

Let me take a moment to thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums.

I understand that you have an HP Officejet Pro 8630 e-All-in-One Printer and have installed all new original HP ink cartridges. And the printer shows that the cyan ink cartridge is missing.

Fabulous diagnostics, spectacular analysis of the issue by you. Kudos to you for that.  You have done a remarkable job in troubleshooting this issue.

This appears to be an issue either with the Cyan ink cartridge or the printhead. What you could do is replace the cyan ink cartridge and in case the issue still persists then it is a printhead failure.

I have sent you a private message suggesting the next course of action.

Hope that helps. Feel free to keep me posted. 🙂

I took the package (1-950XL, 3-951) back to OfficeDepot and they exchanged it with no problems.  So far, the replacement cartridges seem to be w orking.

Great news! 🙂

I'm glad that replacing the ink cartridge helped and hope it remains that way. I truly appreciate your hard work and patience.

Happy printing!
