Try these steps:
Power Cycle the Printer
Turn off the printer:
- Press the power button to turn off the printer.
Disconnect the power cord:
- Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet.
Wait for 60 seconds:
- This allows the printer to fully reset.
Reconnect the power cord:
- Plug the power cord back into the printer and the wall outlet.
Turn on the printer:
- Press the power button to turn on the printer.
Check for Paper Jams and Obstructions
Inspect the paper path:
- Open the cartridge access door and check for any paper jams or obstructions.
- Remove any visible paper or foreign objects carefully.
Check the print carriage:
- Ensure that the print carriage can move freely. Look for any stuck objects or paper.
Clean Printer Contacts
Remove and clean ink cartridges:
- Open the cartridge access door and remove the ink cartridges.
- Clean the electrical contacts with a lint-free cloth.
Clean the printhead contacts:
- Use a lint-free cloth to gently clean the contacts inside the printhead area.
Reinstall the ink cartridges:
- Reinsert the ink cartridges into their slots.
Update Printer Firmware
- Download latest firmware:
- Go to the HP support page for your printer model.
- Download and install the latest firmware update for your printer.
Perform a Factory Reset (if necessary)
- Reset the printer:
- On the printer control panel, navigate to Settings.
- Select Printer Maintenance, then Restore or Restore Settings.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to perform a factory reset.
- Run HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- Download and install the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
- Use this tool to help diagnose and resolve hardware issues.
