@PKWA, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If your HP OfficeJet 250 mobile printer is displaying an error indicating that the cover or door is open, but you have verified that all covers and doors are securely closed, there are a few steps you can follow to try to resolve the issue:

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer using the power button.
  • Disconnect the power cord from the printer.
  • Wait for 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on.

Inspect Sensor Areas:

  • Open and close all covers and doors to ensure they are closed properly and securely.
  • Sometimes, debris can obstruct the sensors that detect whether covers or doors are open. Check for any small bits of paper or other materials that may be blocking these sensors.

Check for Blockages:

  • Carefully review the inside of the printer for any obstructions or blockages. This includes the paper path, printhead area, and cartridge slots. Remove any found debris.

Re-seat Ink Cartridges:

  • Open the ink cartridge access door.
  • Remove the ink cartridges from their slots.
  • Reinsert the ink cartridges firmly into their slots until they click into place.
  • Close the ink cartridge access door securely.

Reset the Printer:

  • Perform a factory reset of the printer to restore the default settings. Refer to the user manual for instructions on how to do this on your specific model.

Check Door Latch:

  • Inspect the doors and covers to make sure their latches are not damaged or misaligned. If a latch is broken, it may not engage properly, causing the error to display

Run HP Smart:

Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)

  • Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
