My printer has worked since I bought it a few years ago and suddenly if it sits idle for awhile it goes to a white screen and I must push the on/off switch to get it get started again. I have tried many fixes that I found on the internet, but the problem persists. There was even an HP rep that responded to someone and had a routine that I tried but it did not work. Contacting HP is hopeless as you get stuck on hold for over 30 minutes.

Sorry it took so long. I know frustrating it is. I will paste the solution below. I had called HP support, and after the guy tried one solution that I had already tried, he told me my printer was obsolete and that I should buy a new one. Then, this retired employee sent me this easy solution that worked first try. It's a bit tricky to see where to press because it is not lit up. But if you follow his steps carefully it should work. Please let me know. Good luck!
"Please follow steps given below to perform a reset on the printer and let me know the results.
Note: BL stands for Bottom Left button which is the Back Arrow button. The buttons will not be highlighted, you will have to press the buttons in sequence outside the home screen on the printer.
1. Press Power button to turn the Printer On.
2. Press Bottom Left, Bottom Left, Bottom Left, Bottom Left Buttons, in sequence.
3. Touch Support Menu.
4. Select Reset Menu and Touch OK.
5. Select Semi-Full Reset and Touch OK.
6. Wait for unit to Power Down/Turn Off.
7. Press Power button to turn the Printer On."
