The printer is using lots of ink.   Print jams will not print in color.  After jam keeps just printing and printing.   Does not print anything in landscape, which is 95% of our printing.

Please get back to us asap.

Hi @MaryAnn1965

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Hi Mary Ann, I’m sorry you’re dealing with so many frustrating issues with your OfficeJet printer! Since you've already reset the computer and printer and installed new ink cartridges, let's go through some additional troubleshooting steps to tackle each problem.

Steps to Fix Excessive Ink Usage, Paper Jams & Landscape Printing Issues

1. Adjust Print Settings to Reduce Ink Usage

  • Open Printer Preferences on your computer.
  • Set the print quality to Draft or Normal instead of Best to reduce ink consumption.
  • Disable Borderless Printing, as it can use more ink.

2. Fix Paper Jams & Continuous Printing

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Open the paper tray and remove any stuck paper.
  • Check for small bits of torn paper inside the rollers.
  • Clean the paper feed rollers with a lint-free cloth and distilled water.
  • Restart the printer and try printing again.

3. Resolve Color Printing Issues

  • Open Printer Preferences and ensure Color Printing is enabled.
  • Run a Printhead Cleaning Cycle from the printer’s control panel.
  • Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Report to check if ink is flowing correctly.

4. Fix Landscape Printing

  • Open the document you’re trying to print.
  • Go to File > Print > Printer Properties.
  • Ensure Orientation is set to Landscape instead of Portrait.
  • Try printing a test page.

5. Update Printer Firmware

  • Visit HP’s official troubleshooting page here and download the latest firmware update.
  • Install the update and restart the printer.
