The printer is changed from A4 to 4 x 6 postcard.  On every print, the front panel warns of wrong paper and I must touch the print option.  When two or more postcards are printed in succession, I must touch print for each one of the postcards.  The settings are correct, the postcard is printed correctly.

What might I change?

I have a previous thread on this topic, and an email about a response,  When I click the link in the email the site cannot find the thread.  The specific error is: The items you are trying to access is not available.

@Bryan_Kelly, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Postcard Printing Issues on HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

When printing postcards on your HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e, it is essential to ensure that both the printer and driver settings are correctly configured. Here are some steps you can take to resolve the issue where you repeatedly have to confirm the paper type and size:

Verify Paper Size and Type Settings

Printer Driver Settings:

  • Open the printer driver on your computer by accessing the file menu in your software program and selecting Print.
  • Choose your printer and then click on Properties or Preferences.
  • In the Paper/Quality tab, make sure the paper size is set to 4 x 6 inches.
  • Ensure the paper type matches the postcard media you are using.

Printer Control Panel:

  • On the printer's control panel, check the settings to confirm that the paper size is correctly set to 4 x 6 inches.
  • Navigate to the Paper Setup menu and select the appropriate tray and paper type.

Configure the Trays

Load the Postcards:

  • Make sure the postcards are loaded into the appropriate tray.
  • Adjust the paper guides to fit the size of the postcards.

Update Tray Settings:

  • From the control panel, open the System Setup menu.
  • Access Paper Setup, and select the tray to make sure the paper size and type are configured correctly.
  • If using the embedded web server, click the Settings tab and then Paper Handling to update tray settings.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!

That is a comprehensive response.  I will probably fixe the problem, but unsure if I want to go to that effort.  In my estimation this is a problem with either the printer or the driver.  Please consider a report to HP to determine the problem and possibly make a correction.

Thank you for your time.

@jag7769, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Just to clarify — are you still facing the same issue where you have to manually confirm the paper type for each postcard, even after setting everything correctly?

Yes. For each postcard the front panel must be touched to print.  And yes, the settings appears to be correct and the postcard is printed correctly.

@Bryan_Kelly, thank you for confirming that — and I hear your frustration loud and clear.

It really shouldn't feel like you're babysitting the printer just to get through a stack of postcards, especially when everything looks right in the settings and the output is spot on.

This behavior is often tied to how the printer “senses” the paper — if it detects a mismatch between what’s loaded and what’s expected, even by a fraction, it stops to double-check with you. Sometimes, this can come from:

Slight misalignment of the paper guides (even a mm or two can trigger the prompt)

A mismatch between driver defaults and tray settings (they need to mirror each other exactly)

Or a firmware quirk that needs ironing out

I'd recommend double-checking the printer firmware is up to date via HP Smart or the Embedded Web Server.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
