OfficeJet 6962

2 problems:

My OfficeJet 6962 printer prints black ink on test pages but printing any other document it will not. printing a photo whether on photo paper or plain paper results in odd uneven color tones.

I did the following:

1. Cleaned the print heads 3-5 times

2. used the online auto-agent and followed the steps

3. reset the printer to factory default

4. printed from multiple devices.

5. Same issue between printing, the scanner bed, and the document feeder.

6. I use HP insta-ink so I cannot just swap the cartridge as it is showing as half full

7. Can't contact Support Agent because the warranty has expired.

2nd problem - when scanning through the feeder, the printouts have a black line running down the middle, I've cleaned every part imagineable.

Can the print head be replaced?  This is absurd, we print less than 20 pages a month.

@F1aKk Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you are unable to print and you are getting line while scanning through ADF.

The document here may help resolve black lines in the scan using the ADF on your HP Officejet OfficeJet 6962 .  In my experience, this is nearly always caused by a spec on the thin glass on the left side that is used for scanning when using the ADF.  Cleaning this area as described in the above document should resolve the issue.  If the initial cleaning does not resolve the issue it may help to shine a bright flashlight nearly parallel to the glass.  For a line on the left side of the printed page the spot will be toward the front of the printer, if the line is on the right of the paper it will correspond to a spec toward the rear of the printer.

Figure : Clean the ADF scanner glass strip

Image: Locate debris on the ADF scanner glass strip.

Spray a soft, lint-free cloth with glass cleaner, then wipe the scanner glass and the white strip on the underside of the document feeder until clean, dry, and streak-free.

   CAUTION:

To protect the interior printer parts, do not spray the cleaner directly on or into the printer.
