HP OfficeJet 7612
macOS 10.13 High Sierra

I have an HP OfficeJet 7612 that I need to unlock and reset the administrative settings. The people who set up the printer are no longer with the company and many of the features are locked. Please send me your instructions to do a master reset of the printer, please.

Thank you

While the printer is turned on if you press 4 x back button ( low left on the touchpad) does hidden support menu appears?

There should be reset submenu in support menu.

Also, there are several youtube videos of resetting OJ Pro 7612, using home back home home combination.

Thanks for your advice. That, combined with the videos I found enabled me to solve the problem. The videos I found were not in english, but I was able to follw enough to solve my problem.

Thanks!

I can't understand the video either, but managed to get it to work just by following what they did.

[edit]

Try these steps.

  1. Unplug printer's power cord
  2. Press and HOLD power button
  3. Plug power cord back in (keep holding power button)
  4. Hold power button for 10 second and then release it
  5. On printer menu — NOTE, On my printe I can't see the home or back buttons lit up like they show on the video. Mine are just black, but if you press to the left of the display area the buttons still work
    1. Press HOME ONCE (top left)
    2. Press RETURN/BACK ONCE (bottom left)
    3. Press HOME TWICE
  6. That should bring up the control screen
    1. Press MENU (Bottom Right)
    2. Press NEXT (Top Right)
    3. Then you can scroll through the options of Full Reset, Semi Resit, Partial Reset, etc.

I don't know much about the difference between the different reset options. I believe I did a Partial Reset and it worked, but it's been a while so I can't recall for sure.

Hope this is helpful.

Wow, thanks so much for the instructions on the hold down hit Home button once, hit Return/back button once, hit the Home button twice. After I did this something came up too quickly for me to read as the printer went into sort of a reset of sorts but I did see these partial readouts. Something as to, cartridges and then something said the alignment. After those came up quickly the printer then showed the normal screen Copy, Fax, Apps on the touch pad of the printer. I will have to add I did unplug my printer from the wall power outlet and then unplugged the power cord from the back of the printer and then held down the power button for 45 seconds to discharge any left charge and left it this way for a day and a half. Then today when I went to try my printer again with these instruction (shown above) I plugged the power cord to the printer into the wall power outlet and then while plugging in the power cord to the back of the printer at the same time I held down the X (cancel) button then quickly after that I did the press Home button once, press Return button once and then press the Home button again twice. To my total surprise and happiness I now had my printer back. I got the printhead error for no reason and had no faults or was changing out cartridges or anything so maybe HP had me on a timer in the firmware to have caused me problems? I hope this will help others as it helped me saved me $300 - $400 to have to buy a new printer and may I add that was not going to be a HP printer this time around.
