I bought this printer a few months ago, I have only used it a handful of times (maybe 5 maximum) to print one or two black A4 invoices for my business. Each time I print something it says "checking printer, this process might take several minutes" which it certainly does (about 5 minutes each time), and now its telling me there is no ink left  I havent even printed 10 pages!

I can only assume each time it says checking printer its using all my ink to clean itself or something. Anyone else had any issues like this or know of a way to resolve it?

Most of the time I need to print something its fairly urgent and having to wait 5 minutes is not ideal. Also not very economicaly friendly if it uses a set of cartridges every 10 pages.

I have tried checking for updates but it says its all up to date

Any help would be appreciated!

Update the firmware for the printer using this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/product/hp-officejet-7610-wide-format-e-all-in-one-series/5153788/model...

Restart the printer.

Then, Cleaning the printhead uses more ink than the automatic printer servicing.

  1. From the Home screen on the printer control panel, touch the Right Arrow (), and then touch Setup ().

  2. Touch Tools, and then touch Clean Printhead.

  3. Wait while the printer cleans the printhead and then prints a test page.

    NOTE:

You might have to clean the printhead several times to correct the issue.

    • If these steps resolved the issue, you do not need to continue troubleshooting.

    • If the issue persists, continue to the next solution.

NOTE:

To avoid issues that require cleaning the printhead, always turn the printer off with the Power button on the printer itself.

Hope this helps you out!

Raj,

I have tried what you suggested above and it has made no difference. There was no firmware update available it says everything is up to date. I have tried cleaning the printhead several times which hasnt made any difference...apart from using more ink.

I am now on my second set of cartridges after having only printed maybe 20 A4 pages (mostly text not colour).

Regards

If you have tried all the steps in this document: https://support.hp.com/in-en/product/hp-officejet-7610-wide-format-e-all-in-one-series/5153788/model... this could be a hardware issue.
