My OfficeJet 7612 starts every print job with a paper jam error. But when I remove the duplexer on the back, I can see paper in the rollers which does not appear to be jammed. The paper looks straight. I can pull the paper out easy and I can reuse the paper because it is not even damaged. After replacing the duplexer, I hit OK on the control panel and the entire job will print perfectly, even if it has many pages every time. The prints look great. I can print color photos or text documents and they all look great. So the printer only seems to have trouble feeding the first page of a job, but no problem feeding the pages after that, and the print quality looks good to me. It does not matter if I print from Windows, Linux, or use the printer status report feature on the printer's control panel. My ink cartridges are all showing they have ink, although they are non-HP cartridges. I tried cleaning the pick up rollers. I tried the reset to defaults option on the control panel. The printer can connect to the web OK and it says my firmware is up to date. The printer is over 2 1/2 years old and out of warranty.

The options are (as you know) limited.
Known solutions, presented in the order to be completed:
A 'Paper Jam' Error Displays on the HP Officejet 7610 Wide Format e-All-in-One Printer Series
Random Thoughts of Ghost Jams
You could try some different paper. ?? Paper that is too dry (yes, this is a thing), too damp (hard to determine by touching it unless the paper is REALLY wet), to too thick / thin Specifications > Paper Handling > Paper tray capacities) may cause weird problems.
Make sure the Media type (kind of paper) is selected in the Printer software (print dialog / preferences) as opposed to leaving the type as "Automatic" or "Not specified" (or similar - wording varies).

Thanks for the help! I put some fresh paper in, and that worked for a while. So I thought, maybe the top sheet on the stack dries out? So then I turned on a humidifier. A few hours later I started exercising the pickup by printing dozens of blank pages. Excellent!

I have a follow up solution to report on my paper jam problem. While the humidity did improve the probability of success a bit, the ultimate solution came when I cleaned the camera like paper sensor thing attached to the printer head assembly. That square box in the center of the image below has a single screw holding it which comes off very easily. The ribbon cable slides out of the back of the sensor easily. After removing the square cover, I was able to open the inner camera up by gently lifting four side clips. There was a ton of ink blocking the camera innards which I cleaned out with alcohol. I have absolutely zero fake paper jam errors now!

Thank you for the post! I follwed your directions and for the 1st time in five years I am able to print duplex on my 7610. THe screw was a little harder to get out than I would have liked but other than that it went very smooth. Again Thank You!
