I recently purchased a new OfficeJet 8710 printer, installed it and connected it to my also new laptop with no problems. Test pages printed and printing from my laptop worked great. The next day my laptop showed the printer was "Offline" even though it was in fact connected to the same network as my laptop.
Even after attempting to wake the printer from sleep mode, my laptop still showed it as offline. This happens every day. The only way I have been able to fix it is to each day uninstall and reinstall the drivers.
I have also attempted to email my documents to the hp email address provided to my printer. It sometimes chooses to print, even if I email the exact same document.
I never though getting a new laptop and new printer would make school more frustrating than it already is!

Hi,
Thanks for using the HP Forums.
Please Uninstall and Reinstall the FULL feature software following these steps:
1. Uninstall the software in your computer, make sure that any printers associated with Officejet Pro 8710 is removed.
2. Download and save the FULL feature software (do not install it online)
The following resource will help you :
http://123.hp.com/us/en/
Key in your printer model, Operating System and download & install the FULL feature software.
3. Install the FULL feature “Saved” software
Once you have downloaded and installed the FULL feature software, create a TCP/IP port.
Create a TCP IP port
1. Print a Configuration Page to get the printer's IPv4 address (you can also tap on the wireless icon on the Front panel of your Printer to get the IP address)
2. On your PC, go to Control Panel, from Devices and Printers, right click the printer and left click Printer Properties, select the Ports tab.
3. Click Add Port, select Standard TCP/IP Port, then select New Port and follow the wizard.
4. Type in the proper IP address for the printer.
This video resource will show you how to do it:
Create & Use TCP IP port
Note that you can ALWAYS revert back to the original port that the HP software installed by selecting the HP port under the Ports tab (in Printer Properties)
Let us know if that works

Hi,
Thanks for using the HP Forums.
Can you try this self-help document for Offline issues?
http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05083107
Else try this :
Right Click on Start > Control Panel > Devices & Printers > right click printer icon > printer properties > click on printer icon > advanced >
Instead of selecting "Always available", select "Available from".Select a time available from 3am to 2am.
>Click OK.
Let us know if that works.
Thanks.

Changing the start times did nothing.
There are also two different IP addresses as there are two different sections labeled "IPv4" when printing out the network configuration report. Both ip addresses would not go through on either Microsoft Edge, Explorer, or Google Chrome, so I was unable to continue any of the following steps..

Thank you so much! So far this solution has been working even after the printer has entered sleep mode, and also after I have shut my laptop off and printed upon turning it back on. I sincerely appreciate all of your help as I was becoming more and more frustrated each time I attempted to solve the problem on my own!
