OfficeJet J4680
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an Officejet J4680 printer, when I try to setup the wireless connection, I get the message that "the wireless radio is not functioning".  I have tried to reset the printer by removing the power cable and then holding the # and 6 keys (although, I wonder what this can do with the power off ? ).  I then reinsert the power cord while holding the 2 key, BUT this does noting.  It does not reset the printer ?  And I still get the "the wireless radio is not functioning" when I try to setup the wireless connection.  Strangely, the 802.11g light is on, even though there is no connection to the router ?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

REad it on page 154, tells how to perform a Network Reset.

Real easy but looking at the front panel.

Reset network configuration settings
If the device is still unable to communicate with the network, reset the device’s network settings.

• Press Setup. Press an arrow button to move to Network, and then press OK.

• Press an arrow button to move to Restore Network Defaults, and then press OK.

Do this and verify the wireless radio can come on.

To turn off wireless communication

• Device control panel: Press Setup, then select Wireless, then select Wireless ON/OFF, and then select either On or Off.

• Press the wireless button on the front of the device.

To print a wireless test page

Print the wireless test page for information about the device's wireless connection. The wireless test page provides information about the device's status, MAC address, and IP address. If the device is connected to a network, the test page displays details about the network settings.

Print another report.  Device control panel: Press Setup, select Print Report, select Wireless Test, and then press OK.

Status now????

Unfortunately, that changed nothing.

The strange part is, when I try to setup the wireless connection, it "sees" my router (by name), but then when I enter the password, it indicates an error connecting and the printout indicates that the "radio is not functioning" (so I assume I didn't mis-enter the password).  But if the radio isn't functioning, how does it "see' the network ?

Do you know how to reset to the defaults ?

As I mentioned in my first post, I removed the power cord, then held the # and 6 keys for about 10 seconds, then held the 2 key and reinserted the power cord (while holding the 2 key for 10 more seconds), but this did not restore the defaults ?

Again, thanks for trying to help.

You did reset it back to Network defaults which 'turns on' the wireless radio.  Also the front panel you tried to turn it on and it did not.  It appears your wireless radio has failed.

I disagree that the printer was reset to Network defaults, in that there certainly was no indication this was done ?

Are you saying that simply turning it off and then back on via the control panel is equivalent to resetting it ?

The blue 802.11g light on the control panel does go off when I set it to off and then comes back on when I turn it back to on, but the subsequent error message when I try to setup the wireless network indicates it's not functioning.

Isn't there a reset to "factory defaults" option ?

Again, thanks for your attempt to help.

OUTSTANDING, that worked and my printer is now connected to my router on the 2.4GHz network (I logged in to the router and checked).

Thanks so much for staying with me and continuing to help.  Sorry if I hadn't explained well the details of what I had tried.

I will now try to connect my laptop to the printer via WiFi (I currently have it connected via USB).
