I bought an OfficePro8710 at PC World late September. Within a few prints (connected via Ethernet) the printer was jamming constantly and not printing straight. I took it back to PCWorld who sent to HP. On return I turned it on and the usual configuration page printed. I continued connection via Ethernet port using the same cable that I used on the first printer but this time it stated that it could not detect the Ethernet cable and to check it was connected properly. I checked repeatedly and it still didn’t work. I called the KnowHow team who told me to reset up including reinstalling software on my Mac. That still didn’t work. I took it back to PC world and they sent away again. Returned now apparently another new printer (third one!) and I’ve tried connecting and the same thing happens it is not detecting the Ethernet port again! I’ve used the same cable on another HP printer and that works fine. Is anyone else having issues with Ethernet ports on these printers?

Welcome to HP Forums. This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.

Since you are facing the same issue with two different printers, It could be an issue with the print driver installed on your Mac PC. Removing existing print driver and installing a compatible driver may resolve the issue. Let's try these steps:

1.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.

2.) Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, If your printer is listed, click the printer name, click the minus sign to delete the printer.

3.) Connect the Ethernet cable to the printer and an available port on the router.

Connect the Ethernet cable to the printer and to the router, switch, or hub

4.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.

5.) Click the plus sign , click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name

6.) Confirm AirPrint displayed in the Use or Print Using menu, and then click Add.

7.) Open a document or photo, click File, and then click Print.

Let me know how it goes!
