I'm having awful problems with my printer. Printer was working on and off during lockdown but some times it would print documents, pdfs or direct from online pages and other times blank pages.
Recently, we tried to print some official documents from an embassy and it just didn't want to print the documents. In the end we took the docs to a print shop and printed there but of course we wasted numerous amounts of paper. Ink was plentiful but last week there was an update for the printer which of course changes all the setting to HP Life... Useless!
I want to have this printer replaced, it causes too much stress especially when young kids are waiting for their print for colouring in or for their homework.

@Shai5, Welcome to HP Support Community!
To be able to assist you better, I'd like to know the following-
- What happens when you try to make photocopies?
- How is the printer connected to the computer?
- What is the Operating System installed on the computer?
Meanwhile, Update the printer firmware
Download available firmware updates from the HP website
With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. Refer to the document HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware
Try printing.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi Tej,
Thanks for your response. In answer to your questions:
When I try to photocopy all works fine.
My printer is connected through wifi.
My OS is Windows 10 Home 64 bit OS.
Since the last firmware which was updated earlier this week the printer will not print properly. I've also reloaded the printer using the cd provided during purchase and still not working.
Kind regards,
Shai

Thanks for replying!
I would suggest you try the Windows built-in drivers. Follow the steps below:
• Go to Control Panel - Devices and printers - Click on "Add printer" and follow the on-screen instructions.
• When the page prompts for the drivers, select "Windows update". The driver list will be updated.
• Click HP, Hewlett Packard, or Hewlett-Packard in the Manufacturer pane, and then click the name of your printer in the Printers pane.
Refer to this document HP Printers - Installing and Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver for help
Keep me posted.

The only reason the printer does not work is because of prevention by the printer for any inks not purchased from HP. Any compatible inks are being corrupted by the printer itself and whilst pages print, they are blank or only have the website address on them.
If HP provided ink at a more reasonable cost then perhaps people would not need to go elsewhere to purchase them. Instead HP is 'blackmailing' it's customers who have purchased HP printers on good faith by introducing code in it's updates to prevent proper, stress-free and efficient use. Not only do you cause stress and upset (try telling your kids they can't have that colouring in page) but waste resources such as ink, cartridges and worst of all paper that is unusable again.
I found some HP cartridges that were provided when I purchased the printer and put them in after trying to print my child's homework numerous times. After I put the cartridges in the page miraculously worked!
I never had this problem with my previous (more reliable and stress free) EPSON printer. Once these cartridges run out I'll throw away this printer and purchase another EPSON. They do not limit use of compatible cartridges in the way HP does.
You should be ashamed of yourselves for helping in destroying the environment even by the little amount that has been contributed by this problem!

I understand your concern and will pass on the feedback to the concerned team for the product's betterment.
The third-party ink cartridges will work. But there are many cartridges in the market which are refilled and sometimes the chip is not configured to work with the printer. You need to contact the cartridge manufacturer and find out why it is not working. Try a different cartridge supplier and check if that works.
I hope that answers your concern adequately. Let me know!
