My roommate and I recieved an OfficeJet Pro 6978 as a gift for our dorm and while installing it a message popped up saying there is a problem with the printhead. We have tried replacing the ink cartridges, and reseting it with no luck. Is there anyother way of fixing this problem? I couldn't find this model while looking for solutions on the HP site.

Hello,
May i know if there is a 0X.. code on the printer display. ?
Please try the below steps.
- Remove all the ink cartridges from the printer
- Unplug the power cord from back of fthe printer.
- Wait for 60 seconds.
- Plug in the power cord to printer. If printer does not power up, press the ON button to do so.
- Wait untill printer is silent.
- Install one cartridge at a time, close the cartridge access door and check if "Printhead problem/error" is displayed.
- If the erorr shows up afater installing a cartridge, then try replacing that cartridge.
If issue still exists, its time to call HP Tech support for further assistance as it could be a faulty printhead.
Printhead is a fixed part in this printer.

I had the following error: Printhead Problem: There is a problem with the printhead 0xc19a0015.
I tried several solutions with no luck. This solution actually solved my printhead error. Not sure how, but it's now gone.
I would suggest adding a note regrading what to expect when trying this solution. For example, this is what happened to while I used the solution:
- received the Cartridge Problem error each time I added an ink cartridge
- screen displayed which color cartridge was missing
I also checked the printer screen each time I added a cartridge to ensure the Printhead error was gone and no additional errors existed as I'm not sure how multiple errors are displayed in the screen. It's just a good idea to check, in my opinion.
Lastly, I did get a message that indicating that the "One or more of the cartridges installed are genuine HP cartridges that have been used previously." While this is somewhat true. They are definitely HP cartridges and new. I've printed a total of 10 pages with these new cartridges as a part of setting up my printer and resolving the printhead error. Curious what qualifies as " previously used" ?
Otherwise, I'm happy the error is gone, and hopeful it doesn't reappear.
Thanks!
