HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Printer

Printer is off-line. Pressing the power button on the front does nothing. Pulling the power cord out and leaving for any duration of time before plugging back in does nothing. Connected to 2 different Macs via wifi, both say it’s off-line. HP Smart app says it’s off-line, so isn’t able to do anything, including diagnose. I have reset the printing system in the Mac system preferences, did nothing.

I have attached a photo of the screen on the front of the printer-the home, help, and back lights are all on, but absolutely nothing is happening. Pressing anything on the touchscreen does nothing.  When I power cycle the printer by unplugging the power cord, the HP start screen appears very briefly before the three  buttons appear on on the left, but that’s all it does.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks

I managed to fix it myself.

I opened the print cartridge access door, unplugged the power cord then plugged it back in again. This forced the control panel to come alive! I guessed it forced it into "check the cartridges" mode.

Anyway, all good now. No idea why the control panel locked up the way it did, hope what I did is useful trick for anyone who has a similar problem.
