HP OfficeJet Pro 9025e All-in-One Printer
macOS 12.0 Monterey

Consistently getting this error no matter which connection method I use to print. I have tried wireless, ethernet and direct USB connections. The error is there whether I am using AirPrint or connecting directly via the printer's IP address.

At all times, the HP smart software on my computer and my phone claim the printer's status is "Ready. Available to receive your files."

The "Instant Ink" subscription is current with the monthly charge successfully paid three days prior to this post.

I have:

Swapped between all three connectivity options

Powered the printer off and on

Performed a factory reset and reconfigured the printer

Confirmed there are no paper jams or errors of any kind active on the printer

Made sure the printer is on the most recent firmware (MANHHIPP1N005.2512A.00)

Attempted printing through the printing services on macOS (15.4.1) and iOS (18.5)

Attempting printing from HP Smart software on macOS (v18.10.1.3284) and iOS (v.18.10.1)

In every case listed, the printing system reports that the printer is busy.

In every case the printer screen reports "No active job"

The printer is unusable. If HP support will offer me suggestions for how I can make this printer functional again, I would be grateful

I ran the HP Smart "Diagnose and Fix" function and got the following message:

===========================================

Diagnose complete. Here are your results.

Try a test print to make sure all the problems are fixed.

Driver Check issue fixed.

===========================================

I performed a test print, which worked.

The next print was a text file, which printed a single page of plain text.

All other attempts to print fail because the "Printer is in use" error comes up again.

I ran the HP Smart "Diagnose and Fix" function again and got the message:

===========================================

Diagnosis complete and no issues were found.

===========================================

Having  the HP Smart app send a test print from the Diagnose & Fix screen failed.

Power cycling the printer allowed the  print job to complete.

After which,  the "Printer is in use" error comes up again.

At all times when the "Printer is in use" error is displayed, the printer jobs screen shows "No active jobs"

It is not sustainable to have to power cycle the printer after each print job.

HP Support, please explain what is going on and how to stop this printer's failure to complete a job and become available for the next print job.
