My HP Office Jet 5740 keeps giving me an error message B80833C2. Previously, I could shut off the printer and then restart it. Currently, it will not complete the start-up process. I have tried the complete unplug-wait at least 1 or 2 minutes-power back on, cycle several times but it will not complete the start-up process. It tries to go through the Configuration process but always errors out. In its current condition, I cannot update the firmware, nor can it communicate with any Support and Diagnosis software. The device is out of warranty and I do not currently have a service contract. I either need to have it repaired or purchase a new printer, but I have not been able to contact a live HP Support person to discuss, nor is the web site clear enough (at least to me) as to what I should do, such as, for example, purchasing a support contract.

Hi @MarkScott1974,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd like to help!
follow these steps to reset the printer.
Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Wait at least 60 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE:
HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
Once done, Try printing.
If the above steps do not help, to fix this issue, you will need additional support from our internal teams in HP. For that to happen, we will give you additional instructions/information via Private Message.

The error code "B80833C2" you mentioned appears to be specific to the HP Officejet 5740 printer. Error codes on printers can indicate various issues, and it's important to troubleshoot them to identify and resolve the underlying problem. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the error:
Restart the Printer: Power off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a few minutes, and then plug it back in. Power it on and see if the error persists. Restarting the printer can often resolve temporary glitches.
Check for Paper Jams: Open the printer's access doors and check for any paper jams or obstructions in the paper path. Clear any jammed paper carefully and ensure that there are no torn pieces left behind. Close the access doors properly.
Reset the Printer: Some HP printers have a reset option that can help clear error messages. Locate the reset button on your printer (refer to the printer's user manual for exact instructions) and press it to reset the printer settings. After resetting, check if the error still occurs.
