OfficeJet 3830
macOS 10.12 Sierra

Hi, I have an issue with my HP Officejet 3830. It's kind of random, sometimes it words, sometimes not. Now, it says the cartridge is not intended to be used with this printer (or something similar). What I do to fix it is to open the front "door", where you can access the cartridges, and close it. This allows me to print again. However, after printing, I get the same error message. In short, for every document I print, I have to do the door workaround.

Why do I get this message and how do I fix it?

Thanks.

@sachabaptista, Welcome to HP Support Community!

HP regularly releases new printer firmware versions with product enhancements or issue fixes. Depending on your printer, apps on the printer control panel might also receive updates. Update firmware and apps on a regular basis to make sure you are getting the most out of your printer. Refer to this link for help.

Also, refer to the document 'Cartridge Problem' or 'Cartridges Missing' Error for troubleshooting steps.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hello, thank you for your reply.

With all due respect, I know what updates do and there is no way I will update my printer as they generally bring more problems than solutions. If the HP team can't give me a proper answer, I'll just switch to another manufacturer.

This printer is not even 1 hear old, I can't believe I'm already having problems with it.

Is there other suggestion as what I could do to fix the issue?

@sachabaptista

I understand your concern. If you have already performed the steps from the document 'Cartridge Problem' or 'Cartridges Missing' Error and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

Hope this helps!
