HP OfficeJet 3830 All-in-One Printer series
macOS 10.12 Sierra

I'm on my 2nd officejet 3830 in two days.  Carriage jam stating something may be in the printer.  There is nothing there!  I'm frustrated as there has to be an easy solution as to why this is happening a 2nd time.  Help!

Welcome to the HP Forums, this is a great location to get assistance! I read your post and see that you are getting carriage jam issue on HP OfficeJet 3830  printer. I would like to help you resolve this issue.

However, I will need a few details to provide an accurate solution,

Did you do any hardware or software changes?

Remove and then reinstall the ink cartridges

Improper placement or installation of the ink cartridges might cause the printer to indicate a carriage jam error. To make sure the ink cartridges are installed correctly, remove and reinstall the ink cartridges, and then try to print again.

  1. Press the Power button to turn on the printer, if it is not already on.

  2. Open the exterior door.

  3. Open the ink cartridge access door.

The ink cartridge carriage moves to the center of the printer. Wait until the carriage is idle and silent before you continue.

  5. Pull each ink cartridge toward you out of its slot.

       CAUTION:

Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzles. Touching these parts can result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections.

It didn't work. This is so frustrating. I have not had a positive experience with ANY part of HP. Such a bad move buying this printer!
