I am getting a Cartridge Carriage Stalled message. I had older HP ink cartridges that needed replacing but kept printing. I then got the message. I purchased new HP cartridges for my printer and installed. Still the stalled message. Did the suggested reset a few times to no avail. There is not paper jammed and the carriage slides freely from side to side. HP would not allow the updated driver for some reason. In any case, I am stumped. How can I do a factory reset to hopefully resolve the problem. The total print count is only about 800 pages, and I keep it covered when not using. So, I don't know what to do next. Any suggestions?

Hello Nirvana_95:
Thank you for your reply, unfortunately I have tried everything to no avail. I have an Officejet 4630 and only have printed 800 pages over the life of the printer. I keep it covered and well maintained. Recently, I was getting a message that I needed to replace the ink cartridges. I purchased 2 HP 61 cartridges and placed them. Then I received a carriage jam message. Of course the carriage was not jammed, so I did all of the reset suggestions. Nothing worked. So, I purchased another used, well maintained Officejet 4630 printer from someone local. They told me it needed ink. According to the app, only the black needed replacing. So, I purchased an HP 61 black cartridge and put it in. Now I am getting a message on that printer that it is an "Incompatible Cartridge" which of course it is not. What else can I do? I hope not to purchase yet another printer and my original printer was lightly used and well maintained. Any suggestions for either of the printers? My original printer is now stuck in Mfg mfg mode. I'm lost for solutions.

Hi @Brentola
Thank you for your reply. I will be glad to help you.
Please follow the steps listed below to clean the electrical contacts of the cartridges:
1. Turn the printer on.
2. Open the door to access the cartridges.
3. Wait until the carriage stops moving before you continue.
4. Remove the cartridge indicated in the error message from its slot, holding it by its side.
CAUTION: Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzles. Touching these parts can result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections.
5. Remove any protective tape that still might be on the contacts.
CAUTION: Do not touch or try to remove the copper electrical strip.
6. Lightly dampen a lint-free cloth with distilled water, and then clean only the copper-colored contacts on the cartridge.
7. Lightly dampen a lint-free cloth with distilled water and then clean the electrical contacts in the carriage, located inside the printer.
8. Wait 10 minutes for the contacts to dry.
9. Reinsert the cartridge.
10. Close the cartridge access door.
