Officejet 4630 all in one not printing after update

 My officejet 4630 display said update available to improve performance. After installing the software it would not print on Linux Mint 18.2 or windows 10. It sounds like it is working normally and the display says now printing but the page comes out blank. The ink levels are good when checking from computer or printer. The estimated ink levels are about 1/4 for both cartridges. The ink cartridges are previous used HP which were refilled. Did a semi full reset which did not work. When using  the copy function on printer with black or tri-color cartridge it still comes out blank. Tried ink cartridge alignment, clean ink cartridges and printer status report in the tools menu on printer but  page comes out blank. The scanner function still works normally. Is it not printing because the new firmware only works with brand new HP cartridges? Don't want to waste my money buying new HP ink cartridges if the is not the problem.

 Replaced ink cartridges with new HP and now it prints. Guess the new updated firmware doesn't work with used HP cartridges that were refilled.
