Hi, I'm helping an elderly neighbor with a problem with his HP printer. The printer is an HP Officejet 4650 that is brand new. It's a couple weeks old and has done this from the start but it prints fine but after a bit of not being used it brings up the error "0xB80A00F4". The only way to get it to clear is to power the printer off and then back on. I have updated the firmware via HP's site and it had no effect on the error. I'm not sure if the error number changes or not but I know it has at least once. I was at his house and unplugged it and pushed the power button unplugged and then plugged it back up. The error message was off for a couple hours or so before the error message "0xB98579BB" came up on the screen. He constantly has to power it off and on. I haven't seen these exact errors doing a google search. Can anyone help? I'd appreciate it!!

Hi @t600,
Thanks for engaging in HP support Forums! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips! I understand you are getting "0X" error message on your HP OfficeJet Printer. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you resolve this issue.
The Ink system error is normally caused due to the print head assembly or the power unit related issues.
To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:
Have you recently made any changes on the printer before the issue started?
How is the printer connected? USB/Wireless
Have you checked for any obstructions inside the printer?
Are you able to move the carriage freely?
In the meantime, let's try the steps suggested in the support document for - HP Printers - 'Ink System Failure' or '0x ...' Error Code Displays (This is a generic document which you could follow for this issue).
If the issue persists, I would suggest here is to perform a Hard reset on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.
Remove all the ink cartridges and then try to perform a hard reset on the printer.
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Remove USB cable, if present.
Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.
Now insert the ink cartridges and then try to print a test page and check if it works.
If your printer connected wirelessly, make sure to temporary connect the device with USB and then follow the link to install the latest firmware update, using this link:
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software13/printers/OJ4650_R1750B.exe
If the issue persists, then I would suggest the next step would be to perform an advanced reset on the printer.
