My officejet 5740 was printing OK until todasy. Now it will not print. I downloaded and reinstalled the drivers, 1st as wireless, then with USB. . I was able to print a test page, however, when I tried printing a report, the prnter just "blinged" and nothing.

Welcome to the HP Forums!
It is a great way to engage, post questions and find resolutions by working with specialists in the HP community.
I reviewed your post and I understand that you are unable to print.
I’d love to help!
In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.
- When was the last time the printer was working fine?
- Are you able to make a copy?
- Are you getting any error message when you print?
- Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?
Meanwhile, I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'
6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
13.) Restart the PC
14.) Download and install the printer software from the below link.
15.) Connect the USB cable ONLY when prompted and follow the on-screen instructions.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

I was able to print using tis printer several days ago.
I am able to make copies.
I get no error message.
The only software changes I had was re-installing the drivers for the printer.
When I go to Device Manager, then select Printers, my 2nd printer shows up
and an "unknown" printer. When I click on that it shows the location as:
on HPE26919 (HP Officejet 5740 series). When I click on settings and click on
device and printer folder it shows pictures of which there are "2" HP printers:
HP Officejet 5740 series AND HPE2619 (HP Officejet 5740 series)

Thank you for the information.
I recommend you follow the steps provided in my previous post to do a root uninstall of the printer and then install the printer again and test.
Let me know how it goes. Awaiting your reply!

I tried as you indicated and it didn't work (wireless setup). I went back and followed it again, then, I listed all files and deleted anything that had HP in it or even hpp. and restarted the computer, installed the softwarwe with USB and restarted the computer again and ITWORKED!!!
Thank you! thank you! thank you!
