Officejet 6700
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have used wifi wireless Officejet 6700 printing for years with HP Win 10 computer and Mac for years.  All of a sudden it stopped printing from both computers.  I try to set it up again and it does not even see my wifi/router.  I type in the router name and password and it still does not connect.

I can print to the printer if I get off my  wifi network and connect to the printer wirelessly directly, in other words I disconnect from the network and then connect directly to the printer which is available in the connect window on available networks.  Hope that makes sense!

Any help appreciated!

Rick

@RickWood Welcome to HP Community!

, I understand that printer is having trouble installing the Officejet printer. Is the printer already connected to the network? If so, please try the steps below to assign a static IP to the printer:

  • Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to get the IP address.
  • Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
  • Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.
  • Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
  • Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
  • Click on radio button which says “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)
  • Restart the printer and then router once done.

Now, I’d suggest you perform a clean install to try and fix the issue:

  • First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.
  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Officejet printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Now click http://hp.care/2oEOlYY to install the software.
  • Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

I didn't get very far.  Touching wireless icon gives on printer screen gives:

Not Connected

IP: no link

Network name: not aplicable

MAC: 2C44FDD4A0CB

Wireless Direct: off

The problem is that I cannot get the printer to connect to or even see my network/router.  The router and Wifi i are working fine as I am on internet with it with my HP-PC and my wife's Mac  and can connect to the network with several iPads and my iPhone.

Thank you,

Rick

I understand your concerns.

The only option left is to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.

I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
