I'm looking to replace my Officejet 8500A Pro printer later this year but I'm quite paticular about getting something that equals or betters it's quality as I use it for my business.
I definitely need to be able to print reverse pages and it also need to have good feeding & printing guides as a lot of my printing is on labels, that if even slightly off angle print completely off course. A lot of my printing is on polypropelene as well so to have the option of printing on transparent film (or equivalent) is a must, as is scalability from 0-100%.
Scan, copy, fax features are also something I'd like to keep and inkjet is definitely prefereable.
I've been focusing on the Instant Ink printers but would like to know which model is the best (or better) successor to the 8500A Pro.
Thanks

HI @Bob_Headrick, @LauraMayB85
Just tried on a piece of HP premium inkjet transparency film. (long obsoleted)
It was able to pick and print. Used plain paper selection but "Professional" (Best) print mode. Print quality was as good and acceptable.
The 1 piece of transparency film was put on top of a stack of plain paper and there was no mispick. (Printer had gone through ~2500 papers printed).
Long story short, we can use whatever media (even fabric media) so long as it prints fine but there will be no guarantee on the print quality and pick performance since these medias are not "qualified" as HP's supported media set for the particular printer.
Hope that helps! Thanks for choosing HP.

When you say reverse printing do you mean page order or mirror image (for T-shirt transfers for example)?
The Officejet 8700 series is likely to be your best choice.

OK, all the Officejet Pro 8700 series printers do print both sides of the paper - and also scan or copy both sides automatically. The Officejet Pro 8730 and 8740 are particularly fast at double sided scanning, they do this in a single pass.

And do you know if they all print successfully on transparent film/polypropylene? This is the most important thing for me as I print on these nearly every day for my business. I couldn't see it listed on the paper types & settings but it may be a standard feature.

I will ask HP Expert @greenturtle to comment on the transparency film support on the Officejet Pro 8700 series.
I do not see transparency media called out as a specific paper type selection in the driver, but this seems to have been the case for HP printers for several years.
