I'm working with a remote user has an Officejet 8600 set up for wireless printing. It used to work fine until a couple of days ago. She said there were no changes, it just stopped working. The printer screen has a message saying Must be connected to the network and internet to use this feature.
She tried resetting the router and I walked her through resetting the printer. We went through the Wireless Setup Wizard - Select your Network (SSID), Enter the Passphrase for the network, Press OK to confirm settings, and it did not connect to the network.
On the computer side in the printer software, there was an option to show the SSIS and passphrase that needs to be entered but it only said "Unable to retrieve information".
She will go buy a USB cable and we'll try to connect it that way but I'd like to get the wireless printing setup again. And is there a way to determine if there's a physical problem at the printer or if it's a setup issue?
Thanks.

Welcome to HP Forums. This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.
I have gone through your Post and would like to help
Does she has other devices connected to her wireless network?
Once she gets the USB cable update the Firmware from this Link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers
Next Reset the Network Settings back to Defaults
1. On the printer control panel, touch (right arrow), touch Setup, and then touch Network. 2. Touch Restore Network Defaults, and then select Yes. A message appears stating that the network defaults have been restored
Then run the wireless setup wizard again
1. Set up the printer hardware. See the getting started guide or the setup poster that came with your printer.
2. On the printer control panel, touch (right arrow), touch Setup, and then touch Network.
3. Touch Wireless, touch Wireless Setup Wizard, and then touch OK.
4. Follow the display instructions to complete the setup.
Keep me posted how it goes
Thank you and have a great day 😊
