I have an Officejet Pro 8610 printer.  I installed new HP color cartridges Cyan & Magenta and received message that 2 cartridges are damaged, Cyan & Magenta. Opened printer door to remove cartridges and carriage is stuck to the right and message "cover to door must be closed to print".  I unplugged, re-plugged in and re-started printer and problem persists.  How do I get the cartridge to move to the left so I can remove the new "damaged" ink cartridges to get my money back?  I cannot get to the touchscreen main menu because these error messages won't go away.  I'm ready to take a sledge hammer to this printer!

Never mind, I figured it out myself.  I pulled on the large white band behind the roller bar & carriage and the carriage moved to the left so I could remove the new cartridges.  I will return the ink cartridges to Staples and never buy an HP printer again!
