Hi @Klaudia114,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you want to bypass the setup ink cartridge error on your HP Officejet Pro 6230 printer and use it without installing ink cartridges, you can follow these steps.

Please note: This method will allow you to use the printer for tasks that don't require printing, such as scanning or setting up wireless connections. You won't be able to print without functioning ink cartridges.

  • Turn off the Printer: First, make sure the printer is turned off.
  • Unplug the Power Cord: Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer. This is important to prevent any electrical mishaps.
  • Wait for a Few Minutes: Let the printer sit without power for a few minutes. This will clear any residual power in the printer.
  • Plug in the Power Cord: Reconnect the power cord to the back of the printer.
  • Turn On the Printer: Power on the printer.
  • Wait for Error Message: When you turn on the printer, it will likely still show an ink cartridge error message. This is expected.
  • Press and Hold the Resume/Cancel Button: On the printer control panel, locate and press and hold the "Resume" or "Cancel" button. Hold it down for about 5-10 seconds. This may vary depending on your printer model.
  • Release the Button: After holding the button for a few seconds, release it. The printer should attempt to bypass the error and allow you to access its other functions.
  • Use Other Functions: Now that you've bypassed the error, you can use other features of the printer such as scanning or setting up a wireless connection.

Remember that without ink cartridges, you won't be able to print any documents. The printer may still show error messages related to the missing ink cartridges, but it should allow you to use its non-printing functions.

If you ever plan to print with this printer, you'll need to purchase and install compatible ink cartridges to resolve the ink cartridge error. Keep in mind that using non-genuine or refilled ink cartridges may cause issues with print quality or damage to the printer, so it's best to use genuine HP ink cartridges for optimal performance.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
