Officejet Pro 6830
Microsoft Windows 8 (32-bit)

My Officejet has had some colour issues for some time.

Things that should be blue or green are magenta. Things that should be red or pink become orange

Sometimes it can be fixed by cleaning the printheads, alligning cleaning page smudges or doing updates, but this time for some reason none of the above have worked.

Despite having a full cyan ink cartridge, I did decide to replace it just in case this was the issue - same result.

So I have also tried to remove all of the inks and look for leaks. I have given them a manual clean (removing the small amount of resudue on them), replaced and then cleaned the printerheads again. I am still getting the same results.

I need my colours to be correct! I am trying to print for business and everything is turning in to shades of pink!

Hey there! @pb68, Welcome to HP forums.

I understand you have print quality issues while printing from your printer.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

Did you make any changes to your printer?

Have you tried checking with a different ink cartridge?

Does the issue persist when you make a copy from your printer?

Try the steps recommended below.

Print and evaluate a diagnostic page, and then troubleshoot defects

Print a Print Quality Diagnostics Page to evaluate the print quality. You can use this information to help to troubleshoot print quality issues such as broken lines, faded or missing colors, and streaks.

Step 1: Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page

Use the Print Quality Diagnostic Page to identify and troubleshoot specific print quality issues.

  1. Load plain white paper into the tray.

  2. On the printer control panel, swipe the display to scroll to Setup, and then touch the Setup icon (). The Setup menu displays.

  3. Swipe the display to scroll to Reports, and then touch Reports.

  4. Touch Print Quality Report. The printer prints the report.

Step 2: Examine Test Pattern 1

Evaluate Test Pattern 1 on the Print Quality Diagnostic Page to make sure that the lines are straight and connected.

  • If the lines in Test Pattern 1 are straight and connected, skip to the step to examine Test Pattern 2.

  • If the lines in Test Pattern 1 are not straight and connected, continue to the next step to align the printhead.

If the issue still persists after trying out the steps, it could be an ink cartridge or a printhead issue with your printer.

Let me know if this works!

Have a great day ahead! 🙂
