HP officejet Pro 6835
Microsoft Windows Vista (64-bit)

I have been having this error "problem with printhead" on my HP 6835 printer.  I bought it in January of 2016 from Sams club and the error started showing up in at the end of June of 2017.  I bought a new 934 XL ink carteridge, but that did not fix the problem.  I have not been able to print anything with the new ink carteridge.  This printer is clearly defective.

In the instructions at HP support, it shows that you can take the printhead out very easily, but my printer has the printhead permenant attached.

I have been a long time owner of HP printers over the last 20 years and have never had an hp die so fast.  (Hp C7250 loves to grab multiple sheets so need to single feed the paper ,and hp deskjet 960c still works).

How do i get this fixed/repaired by HP?

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

As I understand your HP Officejet Pro 6835 has a "Printhead Error",

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Did you attempt to reseat the cartridges, ensure it's compatible and clean the printhead?

While you respond to that, here's what you need to know:

This error indicates a hardware failure, and the printer requires service or replacement.

Your printer model might be replaced under the following conditions:

  • The printer is one of the models listed above.

  • The printer exhibits the error message: There is a problem with the printhead.

  • The printer is in warranty. If the warranty has expired, you may speak to a support agent to buy a refurbished printer or upgrade your printer. For more information, contact HP to start a support case.

If your printer is replaced, you receive a replacement printer that is the same or equivalent to the defective printer.

If you are located in Asia Pacific, Canada, Latin America, or United States, your printer meets these conditions, and you would like to see if your printer can be serviced or replaced by HPcontact HP to start a support case.

I did originally message HP because i saw on the hp support web pages for the 6835 model with a printhead issue that there was a longer warranty time period.  When I reached out to hp support via the website, they asked for the purchase receipt and went with the strict 1 year warranty time frame.  It is 18 months old and a brand new HP 934 xl ink carteridge didnt fix it.

I sent them the link for the hp website but it now has been corrected.  i did find this morning another website which echo's that hp helps those with printhead issues on the 6835 with longer support times.  IS this true?

Hi @scoutdad101,

I am the The_Fossette. It looks like you were interacting with @Riddle_Decipher, but he is out of the office today so I'll take over from here.

The link you have posted it not a HP website and HP cannot authenticate the information provided on the 3rd party links.

I would like to inform you that all the HP products come with standard 1 year warranty and if you wish, you can extend the warranty of your product based on the available warranty extension options.

If the printer is out of warranty, I recommend you contact HP phone support and check if there are any upgrade options available for your printer and I am positive HP phone support will assist you in this regard.

Hope that answers your question.
