Error message says there's a paper jam....there isn't.

There's a "printer failure" message that has you turn it off, then back on.  That doesn't do anything, and the only option is to contact HP.  Printer is out of warranty.

Cartridges won't come to center when printer is open.

Hi @Captain76,

Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I see that you are getting printer failure error on your HP Officejet Pro 6968 All-In-One Printer.

Please follow the steps listed below to reset the printer:
1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
2. Unplug the power cord from the power source.
3. Wait 60 seconds.
4. Reconnect the power cord to a wall outlet and to the printer.
NOTE: HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.
5. Turn the printer on.

You may also refer to the steps from this weblink.

Let me know if this works.
Take care and have a good day.
