I purchased the Officejet Pro 6978 in December 2017 as a replacement to my officejet 7812? that I had used for several years without any issues. I have never had any trouble with printing accurate color before. However, the 6978 will not print a color image correctly to save my life. I have tried replacing ink cartridges, un-installing and re-installing the printer software, and rebooting all systems. I still have the same issues.
It may start printing accurately at the top of the page, but by the middle or bottom, the colors will start getting off. If it is a multiple page document that has color on each page, by the third or fourth page, there will be no color printing at all.
Any ideas what may be happening? I am about ready to throw it out the window. The sad thing is, I have always defended HP printers when folks have said they had issues...... I may have to rethink this.
