Help!   We had a power outage on Wednesday and my printer has been stuck at "verifying" ever since.

I have tried unplugging the printer over night, with no change.
I have removed and reinstalled the cartridges with no change.
I have unplugged the printer, held the power button down for 30 seconds after applying power with no change.

I am really fed up with the results and about to throw this away and go buy an epson.

Hi @skrapiron,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your printer that is stuck on verifying or not booting up.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, I'm here to help you today.

Please follow the steps below to fix the issue.

A) Perform a power drain.

1) Take out the cartridges

2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.

3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.

5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges

B) Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware and let me know if that resolves the issue.

C) If the issue still persists, refer to the steps on this link to restore factory defaults.

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day

Hello,

I followed the troubleshooting steps as provided with no change in behavior.
Removal of the cartridges is complicated by the shuttle being locked in position on the right side of the printer and it will not slide to the left at all.   I ended up cutting away the plastic that was over the cartridge shuttle while in that position to remove the cartridges.

Nothing that has been suggested so far has recovered the printer.

As a last ditch effort, I performed the factory reset through the HP smart APP.   This also had no effect on the printer as the display continues to be stuck on "verifying".

To say the least I am very disappointed in the durability of your product and it is being replaced by an Epson printer as soon as Amazon delivers it.
