Recently our HP Officejet Pro 8100 has been very picky about print jobs. When it first started, I would go to print labels and it would say that it was out of paper even though there was paper and my label sheet in the tray. I would have to play a guessing game on how much paper needed to be in there before it would register that there was paper inside. Sometimes I would have to add as little as three pieces of paper. Now it is starting to do it with normal print jobs on plain paper.
What could be causing this issue? Nothing has changed with the computers or the printer setup and we've been using this printer for over a year.

Hi KateS2,
I am happy to assist you on your problem. It seems that you have a pick issue on your printer at low stack or last sheet.
I suggest that you clean the pick tire by a lint cloth or tape. This will help clean and remove the debris on the pick tire.
If the issue still persist, may be you can go call the HP support and they can replace the pick tires if it is really a pick tire problem.

Hello KateS2,
Have you try to upgarde the printer firmware and preform some clean out on the paper input tray? It could be due to the paper input tray sensor have been dirty or paper did not load properly. Hope this helps.
Kind Regards,
