On power on, I get the message - Printer Failure, with There is a problem with the printer or ink system. If you power off with the On/off button, I get the message - Printer initialisation & calibration in progress, do not turn printer off, or disconnect power. So you can't escape this loop. Ink Cartridges are HP original & tried replacing the Printhead. Although you can access the GUI control panel, it can't connect to the EWS, nor can you complete a machine reset to default. Can't complete a firmware upgrade, stating the machine is busy.

Any ideas how to resolve the issue pls?

Hi @Plotwise,

I understand your HP OfficeJet Pro 8610 is showing a printer or ink system failure and keeps looping during initialization. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Perform a full power reset
Turn the printer on, then unplug the power cable from the printer and the wall. Remove all ink cartridges and wait 30–45 minutes to fully discharge internal power.

Power on without ink cartridges
Reconnect the power cable directly to a wall outlet and turn the printer on with no cartridges installed. This helps determine whether the ink system or internal electronics are blocking startup.

Reinsert cartridges one by one
When prompted, insert the ink cartridges individually and close the access door. Watch the display after each cartridge to see if the error appears again.

Access the reset or support menu (if available)
If the touchscreen responds, press the Back button several times quickly or tap the HP logo area to open the support menu. Try a Partial Reset or Semi-Full Reset if shown.

Attempt a firmware recovery using USB
Connect the printer to a computer with a USB cable and run the firmware update tool as administrator. This can sometimes recover corrupted printer firmware during startup.

Check for continuous looping behavior
If the printer continues initializing, cannot complete resets, cannot update firmware, and does not reach a ready state, this indicates an internal ink system or logic board fault.

Confirm hardware-related symptoms
If the issue persists even with new cartridges or a replaced printhead, and the printer cannot load web services or firmware, the failure is internal rather than software-related.

I hope this helps.
