I have a Printer Faiure Error Message that states "Ther is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn printer off, then on. If the problems persists, contact HP".
I have run thru all troubleshooting suggestions from the HP website for this message with no luck.
Any suggestons?

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂 I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers. For you to have the best experience on the HP forum, you could also visit our HP Forums Guide for First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More. I see from your post that you are getting an error message on your HP OfficeJet printer. Don't worry I'll do my best to help you with this.
To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:
Have you recently made any changes on the printer before the issue started?
Did it happen after a power surge or power outage?
Have you tried to reseat the printhead multiple times?
Are you able to make a copy from the printer?
In the meantime, while you respond to this post. Let's try these steps here:
Perform a Hard reset on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Remove USB cable, if present.
Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.
Let’s first try and make a “photocopy” to determine whether the issue is with the printer or not. Place a document on the scanner glass and choose “Copy” option. If the printer is making a good copy, then the printer hardware is fine.
Did you try to update the printer firmware? If not, If your printer connected wireless, make sure to temporary connect the device with USB and then follow the link to check for the latest firmware update if available for your printer, using this website.
Restart the printer once done.

Thanks for the response...unfortunately, none of the suggestions below worked.
- Performed the hard reset, still see the error message
- Photocopy...I cannot access the main menu screen on the printer as the error message overrides the main menu
- Firmware...I updated the firmware before posting my message
Please advise.

I have the same problem and have followed all of the steps in the suggestions provided in the above response. Same result if Mikebauer had. Any other suggestions of how to solve the problem would be appreciated. Or should I just accept that the printer is trash and I'll have to replace it? It's very frustrating because the last time I used the computer (2 days ago) the printer worked perfectly. I can't figure out what happened in the meantime.

I finally solved the problem by replacing a cartridge. I replaced the one that had been installed the longest with a new cartridge and was lucky that it was the one causing the problem. I had previously removed all of the cartridges, cleaned the contacts, and reseated the printhead (as instructed in the troubleshooting) but it didn't suggest replacing the cartridges with new ones. If anyone else is still having the problem with the error message that won't go away, try this.
